Call for applications for the 7th Nordic Diploma Course in Advanced Pain Medicine

The first course will take place in Uppsala, Sweden, November 24-26, 2014

The Scandinavian Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (SSAI) co-ordinates an Inter-Nordic post-specialist training programme in advanced pain medicine for Nordic doctors.

The programme is limited to 30 trainees. The target group is anaesthesiologists as well as specia-lists from other pain related specialities. The training period is 1½ – 2 years. During the training period, 5 courses – each lasting 3 days – will be arranged. The courses will circulate among the Nordic countries (Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Iceland). The courses will be held in English.

During the 2-year-period, clinical training of a minimum of 3 months should be carried out at a university-based multidisciplinary pain clinic/pain centre or a multidisciplinary department of palliative medicine.

Furthermore, within the 2 years the trainee must complete a project or a written paper according to further instructions. On completion of the Inter-Nordic training programme, trainees will receive a Diploma in Advanced Pain Medicine from the SSAI and may use the title NDAPM.

All expenses for the education (the fee for each course is DKK 7,000 (940 EURO), travel and accommodation must be covered by the applicant’s host clinic or by the trainee personally.

How to apply:

The following documents should be scanned into one document in the mentioned order and mailed to the Secretariat no later than April 15th, 2014. Make sure your name appears on all documents / files and in the title of your mail.

– A filled-in application form approved and signed by the chairman of the host clinic

– A recommendation letter from your host clinic

– A short letter stating your motivation and documented interest in pain medicine

– A short version curriculum vitae

– A list of all publications, and

– if possible, a statement of an appointment with a minimum of 3 months stay at a university multidisciplinary pain clinic or department of palliative medicine
